Here at Oaktree Interiors, the Christmas spirit is alive and well! Our fantastic administrator, Sue, recently had the privilege of taking part in this year's Reading Toy Run event – a worthy cause that she was proud to contribute to. Not only that, but we also have a festive office fit out project to tell you about too!
Staying on the Christmas theme – let's evoke Charles Dickens and organise all this into a retelling of 'A Christmas Carol', but in our own unique style!
The Reading Toy Run is a long-running charity event that sees hundreds of bikers wearing festive clothes and riding decorated bikes to raise money for children's charity, Barnardo's, as well as other local children's charities.
Always the spectacle, this year's event took place on Sunday December 4th with crowds thronging the roads between Reading and Wokingham. A number of these roads had to be temporarily closed, such was the popularity of the event – now in its 36th year, it has grown to be a tradition for locals to watch and take part and we know that Sue is always delighted to do so.
Community is very valuable to us here at Oaktree – it's always something we like the workplaces we create to reflect –so we're always happy to support events such as these and feel pride when our people take part. So, well done Sue!
With Christmas being a special time of year for community spirit – what better way to celebrate than by showcasing one of our festive projects – the office fit out we did for Canterbury Travel! This company specialises in offering trips to Lapland, so we went all out in creating a 'winter wonderland' atmosphere in their new office space.
The design we created completely modernised the interior, including a complete redesign of the back office areas too as these areas connect the two separate sides of the building. Our plan included new ceilings and flooring, new furniture, a new break-out area, a shower facility and the conversion of a storeroom into a bright, modern meeting room. Many storage units were replaced with floor-to-ceiling store walls, helping create a much brighter more functional space.
Winter and Christmas images were used in the final decor to help create the 'magic' for which Canterbury Travel have become renowned in this market! We're proud of how it turned out, and we know that Canterbury Travel's employees (and clients!) will enjoy spending their days in this bright and cheerful space!
